“WOMEN MAKE AN IMPACT WHEN THEY PRAY!”
Hebrews 4:14-16 ... “Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has gone through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet was without sin.
Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.”
We have heard all of the sayings, “Prayer Changes Things” or “Pray Until Something Happens.” We have also had the questions in our hearts, “Does God really hear me when I pray?” “Why do some of my prayers go unanswered?” The scriptures give a resounding assurance that we can come to God’s throne with confidence and that he has mercy and grace for our times of need.
And when do we need Him? When don’t we need Him would be the better question. Of course, we need Him always -- every moment, every second. Before we knew it we needed His grace and mercy. Our time of need is ALWAYS. We are reminded in Luke 18:1 to always pray and to not faint. In other words, if we are praying, we will find the strength to overcome or to endure the present circumstances. David in all of his distress says, “…but I give myself to prayer (I am a man of prayer).” Psalm 109:4b.
And so we ought to be Women of Prayer. Women praying unceasingly like the church that prayed for Peter to be freed from prison. (Acts 12:5) The beauty of it all is that Women make powerful impact when we pray. When we press upon the heart of God for our needs, He is faithful to hear our cry and respond to us. I know stories of praying women who have prayed their children and others to safety, who have provided prayers of protection through dangerous circumstances, who have prayed comfort and strength to bring others out of a physical or mental wilderness, have literally prayed life back into a dying loved one. Whether in their individual prayer closets or telephone prayers or little huddles of the faithful touching and agreeing together – Women Make an Impact When they Pray!
You are invited this year to enhance your walk with God by enhancing your prayer life. WEM will explore the Power of Prayer, not just in study but in practice. We will seek to enjoy more of God by entering into His presence with fresh conversation. We will PRAY BIG asking for things that seem impossible. And we will PRAISE HIM for His marvelous works.
How do we know that we can make an impact through our prayers? In addition to the confidence given us in Hebrews 4:16, I Peter 3:12a assures us, “For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers!” Mark 11:23 says, “Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.” Do you want to make an impact? Just ask God!
