Remembering Rev. C.B.T. Smith
Rev. C.B.T. Smith made his transition to glory on Saturday, June 13, 2009.
2 Timothy 4: 7 says, "I have fought a good fight, I have finished
my course, I have kept the faith."
He ran a good race and is now resting in his new home over in
glory that he always sang about.
We welcome you to share your words of sympathy below. You may also share how God blessed you though Pastor Smith's presence or words at some moment in your life, or perhaps share a corporate prayer to God in memory of Pastor Smith.

Memories of the Giant:
My memories of Rev. Smith goes back when I was a child he baptized me at the age of 12 years old. He took a special hand to the youth of the church and was involved in whatever we did. When I grew up to be a young lady I joined the usher board and sung in the choir, when the church had an engagement he took the youth with him and we felt so important we are going with the pastor. Rev. Smith baptized me and my first born, my twins daughters (Trinetta & Trinette) were the first twins he prayed for, also I was one of the 3 brides to be married in the courtyard one of the highlights of the church. He was always there for my family and we will be forever grateful for what he has done, his legacy will be forever in our family memories. Rev. Smith expressed to me one Sunday evening that he asked the Lord to let him see the twins graduate from college, his prayers were answered the twins graduated from college and he was so proud of them. His legacy of preaching speakes for itself he was a GIANT OF PREACHERS which will never be forgotten, this stature of a man will be remembered for generations to generations, from church to church, and from state to state. If you missed the opportunity of hearing his great voice you missed a LEGACY.
Dorothy Hopkins Williams, Trinetta & Trinetta Williams, Torrance Haynes will always love you.

My family have been so blessed through Rev. CBT Smith and his ministry. He baptized our sons Albert Jr. and Kevin. He and Sis. Smith were with us for our 25th wedding anniversary. He has been with us through the loss of my father and other family members. A true Godsend for the Mae Belle Jackson family. We love and we will never forget this true Man of God for his teachings and the preachings of the Word that have touched and changed our lives because of the great Rev. CBT Smith. May you lean on the Lord for strength during your time of bereavement and know Rev Smith is where he want to be, with his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

Pastor Smith was a true servant of God. He and Sis. Rosie Lee Smith were good to me and my family. I will always remember the sermons of Pastor Smith, his encouraging words, his kind smile, and his humble heart. I will miss him and Sis. Smith. But, I thank God for giving me the opportunity to fellowship with both of them. I thank God for using Rev. Smith to preach and teach His word.

He came and preached at my church one time and preached our congregation sideways and he was 91 at the time. From that time on I listened to Rev. Smith on you tube on a weekly basis. His sermons helped me get thru many hard days. My God be with his family and the Golden Gate church family. We've lost a great warrior for Christ!

Memories
My memory of Rev. Smith is when he baptized me at the age of 9 years old, I was so afraid but he talked to me and told me that everything was going to be alright, for me to hold my breath and with his comforting words I felt safe.
He always had a smile for me when he called my name. He baptized all my children under his leadship, and I will always remember Rev. Smith for his kindness and preaching the word of God. He was always there when you needed him. I love to hear Rev. Smith say (help me Holy Ghost).

There are not many people that are blessed to meet and admire a person for nearly seventy years. I am one of the few. I have known Pastor Smith from childhood, and there was never a moment that I did not admire his strength, character, and loving spirit. I will truly, truly miss Pastor Smith.

Truly a preaching legend! Didn't know him personally but remember very vividly hearing him several years ago in Austin, TX. As we preachers would say, "Everything in the house died that day!" Rest on great warrior!

Pastor Smith was one of the most phenomenal preachers of his time. I last heard him preach this past Good Friday at my church, Brookhollow Baptist Church(The Church Without Walls). As a kid, I remember him preaching revivals at my home church St. John Baptist Church in Corpus Christi, TX. He will be missed dearly. May God comfort and strenghthen the family. Peace and Blessings. We joined GGMBC under the leadership of Dr. C.B.T. Smith in 1981 and continued to worship under his leadership until his retirement. We were blessed abundantly and grew in Christ tremendously because of his gift of preaching God's Word. We will miss him and pray that God will comfort his family and many friends. Help Me Lord Jesus!
