Remembering Rev. C.B.T. Smith
Rev. C.B.T. Smith made his transition to glory on Saturday, June 13, 2009.
2 Timothy 4: 7 says, "I have fought a good fight, I have finished
my course, I have kept the faith."
He ran a good race and is now resting in his new home over in
glory that he always sang about.
We welcome you to share your words of sympathy below. You may also share how God blessed you though Pastor Smith's presence or words at some moment in your life, or perhaps share a corporate prayer to God in memory of Pastor Smith.

Pastor Walter Johnson wj2n3@yahoo.com (06.19.2009 @ 19:23:15)
I am grateful for the opportunity to have been able to start my ministry under such a powerful man. I will forever be thankful to Dr. C. B. T Smith for investing a part of his life into me. My Prayers are with his family, Golden Gate and everyone touched by his homegoing.
Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the old heaven and the old earth had disappeared. And the sea was also gone. 2 And I saw the holy city, the new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven like a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. 3 I heard a loud shout from the throne, saying, “Look, God’s home is now among his people! He will live with them, and they will be his people. God himself will be with them.?*? 4 He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All these things are gone forever.” Revelation 21:1-4

When I was very young, I made a mental list of about 7 or 8 people I most respect. Pastor Smith has always been #1 on that list. His love for God and love to Sis. Smith is an inspiration.
Any kind word or deed I direct toward my wife is simply me following his lead. And my relationship with God will always be traced back to how he led me and my family in our walk with Christ.

To God be the GLORY, oh what a marvelous thing he has done. Pastor CBT Smith the epitome of a righteous man. If by some measure of fate you were unfortunate enough to have not met this distinguised extraordinary man, you missed a chance to stand in the presence of an angelic spirit. Pastor Smith because I was blessed enough to have met you, worshipped under your pastorage, and spiritually grew under your leadership, I will never be the same. Thank God. Heaven rejoices and we rejoice..rest good and faithful servant. To the Golden Gate family I share in your loss for this is a worldly loss. God Bless you and Pastor Smith's family. Reverend and Mrs. C.B.T. Smith lived in an 'orderly' house. I shall be eternally grateful for manner in which their Christian witness impacted my life and the world at- large. Like Silas, when Reverend Smith sang, locked doors were opened. Like the Apostle Paul, when he preached, captives were set free. I look forward to reacquaintance with them both in the glorious resurrection.

Rev. Smith was a wonderful man of God who practiced what he preached. My mom, the late Julia Scott Reed, was a member of Golden gate for over 50 years. Rev. Smith baptized me their when i was 11 years old. He certainly "filled in his dash". God bless Rev. Smith. He will always be remembered.

A preaching legend has been taken from us, and heaven was made sweeter on Sunday morning. Previously being aquainted with Dr. Smith through being introduced by several of the brothers years ago; my fondest memory has to be in October of 2005 while at the airport in Lubbock waiting to fly back to San Antonio. Dr. Smith was headed to revival in Cleveland, Ohio after just leaving our state convention. He sat beside and called me by my name. I had no idea he knew who I was, but he shared with me how proud he was that I was working diligent in the convention and to hang in there. I asked him how he stays healthy at his age, and he told me to always get rest, but never stop the work. Those words will resonate in my mind forever. We exchanged cell numbers and talked a few times. Most recent when I was getting ready for a funeral and got stuck on a text. He gave me great insight. I was in Tuscaloosa, Alabama last week and I saw his number in my phone. I was going to call and say hello, and had no idea that it would have been the last time we spoke on this side. Dr. Smith will be missed!!
