...And let us run with perserverance the race marked out for us... Hebrews 12:1 NIV Pastor Smith is a great example of running the race that God set out and petitioned him to run. Pastor Smith will always be known for the dynamic preached Word that he delivered every time he got a chance. He will be remembered for his gentle spirit, his humble spirit, and his love for people. I came to Christ under his leadership. I have grown due to his teachings & preachings. I will miss him dearly as one of the strong towers in my life and that of my family. All praises be God for the life of Pastor Smith!

Thanks to Rev.Smith for baptizing me when I was nine years old.Rev. Smith's teachings helped me to realize that God really does care about me. He taught me to never hesitate to be grateful, for genuine gratefulness has no bad side effects. Encourage one another daily, as long as it is called Today, so that none of you may be hardened by sin's deceitfulness (Hebrews 3:13 NIV).

Watching Rev. Smith over the years made me want to do better in my life. His walk showed me how I could be a better parent and friend. He helped me to understand God better and showed me how God is working in my life. May the Lord bless his family as he would often say,"I 've got a feeling everything is going to be all right.

My memories of Pastor Smith began when I was a little girl. I was hit in the right eye, while playing ball and had 7 surgeries due to the accident. Pastor Smith was there for every surgery. Just before each one, he would pray and also recite the 23rd Psalms. He also taught me that passage of Psalms. We reminisced about this just Friday when I went to visit with him. While visiting with Pastor Smith, I and the 2 ladies that went with me sang 2 of his favorite songs, "I Got A Feeling Everything's Gonna Be Alright and Glory Glory Hallelujah". He had the biggest smile on his face and clapped his hands. That smile will be my last visual memory of him. I have known Pastor Smith all my life. He baptized me, my son & daughter. He also officiated over my marriage. Those of us who grew up under him, he fondly let us call him "Papa". My family and extended family will forever be grateful to Pastor Smith. His legacy will live with us forever. Pastor Smith was a humble man..an awesome preacher..He was truly God's servant. During his sermons, when we heard him say.."Touch me Holy Ghost, help me to preach your word", it was all over after that!! TO GOD BE THE GLORY FOR THE GOOD THINGS HE HAS DONE! BYE PAPA...WE LOVE YOU! YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN. May God continue to bless his family.

We extend condolences to the family of our beloved Pastor- Emeritus, Rev Smith. We count it a blessing to have experienced his loving care for over 26 years. Even though he retired more than 13 years ago, his love and devotion for the Golden Gate Church family remained steadfast. The friendly and cheerful personality Rev. Smith greeted us with in 1983, remain the same throughout his life. We thank God for his time with us and the leadership he gave us. We can just visualize his enormous joy of being with our precious Savior, Jesus Christ.

I'll miss Rev.Smith, his sermons got me thru many difficult times. I had just talked in my BSF class about his influence on my Christian life. In my personal life I'll miss being able to call him any time with a problem, he nver ask who you were, just give you a scripture and pray with you. He loved and was willing to help anyone. I'll miss him but "I've got a feeling everything's going to be allright"

Pastor Smith is a legend. He was a true man of God. Pastor Smith epitomized the characteristics of a true Christian man and husband. During my four year stay in the Dallas area, I was drawn to Golden Gate because of Pastor's Smith love for young people and the extra measures that he took to ensure their spiritual needs were met. His teaching and preaching left one yearning for more; I am grateful for the four years that I got to hear him teach and preach.
To my Golden Gate Family, I weep with you, but I am comforted by the fact that we will see him again. ...and oh what a time that will be.

Pastor Smith was a man of quiet strength with an amazing connection to the Lord. I watch him do revivals at my former church in Austin for 20-plus years, but it was not until last year when taking him to and from the airport during a speaking engagement at Sweet Home Baptist Church of Round Rock that I got to really know him. His life is a true testimony to the grace and favor of God. He spoke excitedly about how he was ready to go home and now he's finally there. I know he is rejoicing right now. To God be the glory!

My deepest sympathy goes out to the Smith Family.
Rev. Dr. C.B.T. Smith was a true Man of God. When you saw Pastor Smith he was quiet and very humble. But when he got up to preach and sing; he took the church to a higher level in God. You could see the relationship Pastor Smith and God had; it was so real. Pastor Smith will be greatly missed and will always signify a true legend.
I know Pastor Smith lived a good life, and enjoyed preaching the gospel. I remember every Sunday morning walking up to him to get a big hug and a big kiss….hearing him say “There’s my girls”. He loved children and I felt so special to know that I was one of his girls. I was deeply saddened by his home going, but I am excited to know that he is with his Creator. I love you Pastor Smith.

Rev. Smith has always been like a second father for myself and my brothers. He was one that you could go and talk to when you had any kind of problems, regardless of your age or circumstances. He married me, counseled my children. I and my family loved him very much. Thanks for showing us how to walk in order for us to walk with the LORD.

While I know death is inevitable, I never envisioned Pastor Smith not being around. We grew together...his early ministry...my early conversion in Christ..he baptised me, married me, blessed and baptised my sons, married my son Nicholas, buried my brother Michael, was there for the deaths of my parents...oh my God...what a friend he is! I love you and will miss you Pastor Smith.
