W.A.R.M.

The Women’s Adult Rehabilitation Ministry (WARM) is a program within ARM that ministers to the needs of women who are chemically dependent. WARM is an intensive 90-day outpatient program. The program is faith-based and acknowledges Jesus Christ as the higher power.

What Do We Do?
Group and individual therapy is provided for each client. Support groups, such as Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous, are utilized as part of the treatment process along with providing education and information. Clients are directed to community resources that can assist them with job training and placement, public assistance, and continued treatment.

All clients must complete an intake interview before admittance into the program. A willingness and desire to submit to the program of recovery is all that is needed.

The WARM program operates a clothes closet that includes donated new and used clothing items provided by the members of the church. Clients are able to select items from the clothes closet every other Friday. Clients can also be assisted through the food pantry. Transportation is available to and from meetings if needed.

Our Goals:
Our Goal is to transform the lives of women through participation in a comprehensive faith-based program by:

Ministering to the needs of the chemically dependent women: A unique teaching approach is provided using the 12-step program that is biblically based. Open AA and NA meetings are offered daily. Discipleship training is provided that allows the participants to become mature and responsible adults (productive citizens).

Ministering to the entire family: Family Support meetings are held each Saturday that allow the family to interact with the participants and better understand an addict’s behavior to begin the healing process.

Cultivation awareness of individual financial responsibility: Budget training is offered to all participants. Participants are encouraged to open a savings account, pay off bad debt through payment plans, and save for a car and apartment/home furnishings upon completion of the program.

Utilizing a peer therapeutic approach: A support group system is developed when the women enter the program. The peer-counseling environment builds the self-esteem of clients who enter the program at the lowest point of their lives.

Equipping participants with the tools necessary to reenter the workforce: The individuals who enter the program without a high school diploma or GED are given the opportunity to attend a six-week GED program. Job reading skills, which include how to write resumes, interviewing techniques, and job search skills, are offered to all participants to assist them with transitioning back into the workforce.

Encouraging women to shift their thinking and begin to enjoy life: Participants and family members are encouraged to participate in scheduled family activities that include a family picnic, Six Flags, movies, bowling, and etc. Partnerships have been established with the City of Dallas Parks and Recreation and Bluitt Flowers for health and fitness activities.
